Blackburn with Darwen Carers Service started in 2004.
There was a gap in carers support services locally. At a local consultation, carers said they wanted access to support, advice and information to help them in their caring roles. The local Community and Voluntary Service helped get the service off the ground and we became independent soon after. Our CEO, Sam Morris, was there right from the start and is still with us to this day! We have a Board of Trustees that give their time voluntarily to help the service plan and develop and ensure that we have good governance.
We’re really proud to have grown the service over the years. We offer a wide range of support, all designed to give carers what they need to help them manage their caring roles.
We would love to hear your ideas if you are a carer and would like to see something else that we could be doing to support you.
