How can you help?
Encourage family and friends to donate through our donation page.
TOP TIP – People who set a funding target are much more likely to exceed it!
Set yourself a challenge. Like giving up alcohol for a month. Walk up a mountain or learn a new skill and ask your family and friends to sponsor you.
Hold a fundraiser. Organise a bake sale, make jewellery or home-made cards. Organise a “funday” for your friends. Hold a dress down day at work or a fancy-dress virtual team meeting.
TOP TIP – Hold your event or collect sponsorship money just after pay day!
Other ways to help…..
When we receive funding from our commissioners or grants it usually comes with specifications on how those monies should be spent. Monies that are donated or fundraised allow us to do that bit extra for our carers, so we can use it where we feel it will help the most. For example, by supporting someone who may be at the point of breakdown or just needs a bit of respite from their caring role. You can help us to do this.
Carers Dream Draw
Each month we hold our Dream Draw and 50% of all monies are given back to the lucky winners. The rest of the monies go to helping support our Carers. Our aim is to reach a target of 1000 tickets of just £1 per month so that we can offer prizes that could mean you can have a real treat. You can hold as many tickets as you want to increase your chances. So, can you be one in a thousand?
In your will (Legacies)
Gifts in wills are an important part of our charity’s income. Legacy donation will allow you to help support many other carers within Blackburn with Darwen.
If you are considering making a will, or would like to amend a current one to include a legacy, it is advisable to go to a solicitor who can help you. If you wish to discuss any aspect of leaving a legacy, you or your solicitor can contact the Carers Service on 01254 68840 for details.
In memory of a loved one
When a loved one dies, families may choose to ask for donations for Blackburn with Darwen Carers Service instead of floral tributes. We are able to provide you, or an appointed solicitor or undertaker, with specifically printed envelopes in which people can make donations in memory of a loved one. We will also provide letters of thanks that you can send to thank those who make donations. Please contact the service to request or ask for more information on 01254 688440.
